What's On in Val d'Isere March 2018

March is here. That means longer, warmer days while still offering great snow. The resort is also less hectic but still buzzing.

Here's our selection of the best events coming up this month. For a full look at everything going on in resort check out our Events Calendar.

Visit the resort's backstage operations

Val d'Isere

In this series of visits, you’ll gain an insight into all the hard work requires to run one of the world biggest and best ski resorts. Discover the inner workings of the famous Olympic Cable Car on the 1st March by visiting its impressive machine room. Or learn about how the ski area run and is made safe from avalanches on the 8th, 13th & 27th March. The Pisteurs show you around the cable car and how the CATEX (explosives transport cable) works. It’s a fun and informative break from skiing, or something to do if the weather isn’t great.

Dynastar Dual Slalom Race

Val d'Isere

Dynastar presents a Dual Slalom Race open to all holidaymakers. This night event is designed to give anyone the experience of ski racing. Skiers go head-to-head on parallel slalom courses in a straight knockout competition. There are 32 places for kids and men, and 16 for the women. There’s a pair of skis up for grabs from Dynastar for the winners in each category. Even if you aren’t competing, watching skiers race each other down the slopes is exhilarating. Entry is free, you just have to sign up at the Club des Sports.

Val d'Isere

This 3-day festival will see a series of classical music concerts held in the Baroque church in Val d'Isere. Featuring internationally renowned musicians, this is a great little event in an intimate setting for classical music fans naturally but also a great alternative to the usual apres if you want a more relaxed evening after skiing.

Apres ski & nights out

Val d'Isere

Val d’Isere has a bit of a reputation for parties and, when you look at the list of apres sessions and club nights, it's easy to see why. All month, all season even, there’s a host of weekly shindigs on and off the slopes. The Folie Douce hosts its famous on mountain apres parties daily, with a special fancy dress edition every Wednesday and a disco party on Mondays. When you’re done on the slopes, keep the good times rolling (sliding?) with apres at Cocorico which runs until 20:00. If you’re not partied out by then you can head to Doudoune nightclub which is open late every day or, on Tuesdays, hit up Tequila Tuesday at Moris Pub!

GEM Altigliss

Val d'Isere

One of the world's biggest student ski competitions comes to Val d'Isere this month. Organised by Grenoble's management school, Altigliss incorporates more traditional winter sports like slalom and super-g racing with challenges like orienteering or sledging. The atmosphere is sure to be intense and fun.

European Pride Week

Val d'Isere

From the 17th-24th March, the only wintersports Gay Pride event takes place in neighbouring Tignes. The week-long celebration will involve plenty partying on and off the slopes with big-name DJs taking to the stage. You can buy an event pass with or without a ski pass or even book your entire holiday via their website.

Winter golf

Val d'Isere

The Manchet valley golf course will see an early opening of sorts from the 22nd-25th of March. Playing with orange balls, members of the public and pros alike will be playing on a 9-hole course. On the first evening, a street golf tournament open to anyone will be held in the centre of Val d'Isere.
