    Val d'Isère is nestled in a valley at the foot of the mountains, with its chocolate box chalets and hotels spread between the central town and its outlying villages. All of them are connected via free regular shuttle buses.

    When looking at timetables be aware that they're in French so L = Lundi / Monday, M = Mardi / Tuesday, Me = Mercredi / Wednesday, J = Jeudi / Thursday, V = Vendredi / Friday, S = Samedi/ Saturday & D = Dimanche / Sunday.

    Val d'Isère has proudly reduced the volume of car traffic in resort courtesy of its three shuttle bus routes offered free of charge to visitors. There three routes, red, blue and yellow, that link the different areas of the resort from morning to night every day of the season with reduced frequency in the evenings and in inter-season.

    All of the buses go along the Rond Point des Pistes. The Red line operates between Le Fornet and La Daille from 07:35 to 02:40 with frequencies ranging between every 5 and every 25 minutes. The Blue line operates between Legettaz and the Clochetons from 08:30 to 20:00 every 25 minutes. The Yellow line operates from the train station to the Pont du Joseray from 08:30 to 23:30 every 25 minutes.

    Buses from Chambery airport to Val d'Isère operate four times per day on Saturdays and once on Sundays during the ski season. It takes around 2h45 minutes to get to Val d'Isère. There's also a stop in La Daille if you're staying out of the centre.

    Buses from Lyon airport run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the ski season, three times per day and take around 4h00 to get here. 

    Buses from Geneva airport operate every day of the week in winter with six buses on Saturdays, four on Sundays and three on all other days of the week. This route also takes around 4h00.

    Buses from Grenoble airport operate on five times per day on Saturdays and once on Sundays in winter and take between 3h30 to 4h00 to get to Val d'Isère.

    Val d'Isère has a bus terminus (Gare Routière) where a couple of international coaches stop, as well as where the buses from the airports or train station in Bourg Saint Maurice will drop you off. 

    The mainline train station for Val d'Isère is at Bourg Saint Maurice, around 30kms away. Buses operate regularly from there up to resort. The journey takes around 45 minutes.
