The extensive network of Val d'Isere lifts are open both in summer and winter. For the 2019/20 winter season, snow cover permitting, the Tignes & Val d'Isère ski area is scheduled to open from:
30th November 2019 to 3rd May 2020
- Tignes ski lifts (including the Grande Motte glacier) should open 28th September 2019 to 3rd May 2020
- Val d'Isere ski lifts should open from 29th November 2019 to 3rd May 2020
In Tignes, we are fortunate enough to be able to ski right through the autumn on the Grande Motte glacier. However, some parts of the Espace Killy ski area may open on weekends ahead of the official start dates if the snow cover is good enough. Keep an eye on Live Lift Status to see what's open where, and take a look at our snow reports for details on what is open and what the snow conditions are like.
The gondola and chairlift in Tignes Les Brevieres open as soon as the snow cover is good enough. They both operate from around 08:30 or 09:15 until 16:15 before the end of January and then until 16:45 after that. Opening hours for skiers: 08:30 (first lift up of the funicular) – 15:30 (last lift down of the funicular and last lift up of the Bollin chairlift) There are 11 lifts, including the funicular that will take you to the glacier in only 7 minutes.
It's worth noting that reduced rates are available on Tignes & Val d'Isere ski passes at the start of December for those who want to squeeze in a bit of pre-Christmas skiing!
