Val d'Isere Snow Report & Forecast

Discover the latest Val d'Isere snow conditions

Val D'Isere is looking in very good shape as we move through late February, with the village sitting neatly beneath well covered slopes and the upper terrain holding a distinctly alpine feel. The snowpack across the Espace Killy remains strong, and the mountain feels settled rather than changeable. Despite the busy holiday period, conditions on the slopes are consistent and reliable, particularly at higher elevations.

Snow and Weather Summary

Current snow depths are around 95 to 115 cm at resort level at 1850 metres, with between 190 and 260 cm reported on the upper slopes above 2700 metres, including the Pisaillas glacier. A light fall of around 5 to 10 cm has refreshed higher terrain over recent days, mainly improving surface quality on exposed runs. The underlying base remains solid and well established.

Temperatures have been suitably cold at altitude, ranging from minus 9 to minus 5 degrees on upper slopes and the glacier, while the village has seen daytime highs between minus 2 and plus 2 degrees depending on sunshine. The freezing level has generally hovered between 1500 and 1800 metres, dropping overnight and allowing well groomed pistes to refreeze effectively. Winds have been mostly light to moderate, occasionally stronger on ridgelines but without significant disruption to lift operations.

On piste, conditions are very good across the area. The higher sectors around the Fornet and Pisaillas are offering firm, chalky snow that holds its quality through much of the day. Mid mountain slopes towards Bellevarde and Solaise are in excellent shape after grooming, with reliable grip and consistent coverage. Lower runs back to the village remain open and well maintained, and the links across to Tignes are skiing well.

Outlook & What’s On

The forecast suggests continued cool conditions with the possibility of light snowfall later in the week, mainly affecting higher elevations. Any fresh snow would help maintain surface quality and further support off piste coverage at altitude. Freezing levels are expected to remain seasonally appropriate, which should preserve snow quality across most aspects.

Val D'Isere continues to offer a lively programme of events, including family activities, guided mountain experiences and evening entertainment in the village. Torchlit descents and live music events are scheduled throughout the week, contributing to a busy but well balanced holiday atmosphere.

Weather outlook as of: 23 February 2026. As I am sure you are aware, accurately forecasting weather more than two or three days ahead in the mountains is notoriously tricky. If there is a significant change we will update this section before the next full weekly snow report.

Snow Takeaway

Val D'Isere is skiing particularly well above 2200 metres, especially around the Fornet and Pisaillas sectors where snow remains firm and dependable. Early starts will make the most of mid mountain slopes before any afternoon softening on sunnier aspects. With a strong base and cool temperatures, conditions look set to remain steady over the coming days.
