Val D'Isere is looking properly wintry again this week, with fresh snow lining the rooftops and the surrounding peaks holding a solid white cover. The village feels lively as we move through the heart of the season, but once you are up on the mountain there is still plenty of space to find your own line. The snowpack is in good shape for mid February, and underfoot conditions feel consistent and confidence inspiring, especially higher up.
Snow and Weather Summary
Current snow depths are around 85 cm in resort at 1850 metres and approximately 195 to 220 cm on the upper slopes around Bellevarde, Solaise and the Pisaillas glacier. Over the past few days Val D'Isere has seen 15 to 25 cm of new snow above 2300 metres, with lighter accumulations lower down. This has freshened up the pistes nicely and improved cover on steeper terrain.
Temperatures in the village have ranged from minus 5 degrees overnight to around plus 2 degrees during the warmest part of the afternoon. Up high, temperatures have remained firmly below freezing, between minus 12 and minus 6 degrees, helping preserve the quality of the snow. The freezing level has generally stayed below 2000 metres, briefly rising during milder spells before dropping again. Winds have been moderate on exposed ridgelines, with occasional stronger gusts affecting the highest lifts.
A more significant snow system is forecast to move in from late Friday into Saturday. Current projections suggest 30 to 40 cm of fresh snow above 2200 metres, with 20 to 30 cm possible at resort level depending on how quickly colder air settles. This anticipated snow dump should noticeably deepen the base and refresh the whole ski area.
Outlook & What’s On
The next few days look unsettled, with periods of snowfall and reduced visibility at altitude before conditions clear early next week. Once the system passes, colder air is expected to follow, which should help keep the new snow in good condition. In the village there is a full programme of half term activities, including guided snowshoe outings, family friendly events and live music in the evenings, all adding to the atmosphere without detracting from time on the slopes.
Weather outlook as of: 12 February 2026. As I am sure you are aware, accurately forecasting weather more than two or three days ahead in the mountains is notoriously tricky. If there is a significant change we will update this section before the next full weekly snow report.
Snow Takeaway
Val D'Isere is currently skiing best on the higher slopes of Solaise and Pisaillas where the base is deepest and the snow remains cold and grippy. With a solid fall of fresh snow on the horizon, conditions are set to improve further across all elevations, making the coming days particularly promising once visibility returns.
