15 French departments are on Orange weather alert warnings this morning, as France Meteo are predicting strong winds, flooding rains and thunderstorms across central and south east France.

Gusting winds will be particularly strong in the Rhone Alps & Isere Region with some potentially reaching 100-140 kmph.

Heavy rain is expected in the Var & Alpes Maritimes Region with 60-160mm due to fall say the forecasters. In the Ardeche there could be as much as 200mm rainfall, causing exceptionally high river levels, which will then affect the Vaucluse region.

The weather warning is due to expire on Tuesday at 21:00.
