Bananas Bar Burns Down

30 year old bar & restaurant destroyed by flames

The opening weekend in Val d'Isere was hampered with another fire in resort, after last weeks chalet blaze, this time a fire has destroyed the popular apres spot Bananas bar.

The bar and restaurant located next to the pistes at the bottom of the Bellevard caught fire yesterday and flames shot up some 20 metres. The fire service managed to bring the flames under control an initial investigation took place last night - as yet the cause is still un-confimed however a log-fire is the main suspect.

Fortunately the fire caused no injury however the builidng has been largely destryoed and this 30 year old landmark will not be open for the foreseeable future.

Upcoming Events

Val d'Isère hosts a wide range of events throughout the year. There are constant ski racing competitions throughout the winter, as well as the much anticipated La Scara youth event each April. In the summer, the resort plays home to some major trail running events such as the High Trail Vanoise in July, with Tour de France stages often passing nearby in July.
