Following last week's rock slide on the road up to Val d'Isere and Tignes, works have started to secure the cliff face and are estimated to cost 200 000 €uros.

Three weeks of road works for Val d'Isere & Tignes

After a visit by local council and geologists to the rock face on the D902 at the entry of the tunnel it has been estimated that three weeks of work will be necessary to secure the area.

During the operation, 25 five-metre deep anchors will be used to 'nail' the 100 m³ of rock to the cliff face. The cliff-side lane will be closed to all traffic and occasional use of a crane will block circulation completely for up to 30 mins at a time.
