Organic coffee, cold-pressed juices and healthy meals are all this cafe is about. The place to recharge before venturing out into the mountains.

From energy-boosting breakfasts including avocado toasts and porridge pots to sandwiches, soul bowls, soup, burgers, pasta and smoothie bowls, this is the place to come for the latest trends on health food. Choose from their long list of organic coffees and cold-pressed juices and you're on for a day out on the mountains.

They have two spots in Val d'Isere, in the Residence de Bellevarde (open 08:00-18:00 in winter and 09:00-17:00 in summer) and in Residence Le Val d'Isere Village (open 08:00-18:00 in winter and summer for special events only).

2. La Grande Ourse Restaurant

This restaurant has been feeding hungry skiers in Val d'Isère since 1936. They serve organic, local produce and have their own patisserie master.

The restaurant is a beautiful old chalet in the historic village district of Val d'Isère, with wooden beams and a roaring log fire, as well as a large south-facing terrace.

House specialities include orange roasted duck breast, ravioli stuffed with lobster, garlic roasted leg of lamb and other delicious homecooked dishes, including local specialities such as tartiflette or fondue.

You know that the wine cellar can be relied upon when the owners actually have their own vineyard in the Rhone Valley.

Open daily for lunch (12:00 to 16:30) and dinner (from 19:00).

Le Garage Restaurant, Val d'Isere

3. Le Garage Restaurant

Restaurant serving an international menu that includes pizzas and burgers, including a veggie burger if a meaty feast is not what you're after. Le Garage is open every day from lunch until late, be sure to enjoy the craft beers on offer and the extensive wine list. 

On the menu you'll find a large variety of international dishes - Italian, Savoyard, American and Mexican - simple comfort food made with local quality produce. Take your pick from sharing boards and tapas/snacks, beef and vegetarian burgers, filling salads, homemade pizzas, and homemade desserts such as the celebrated chocolate fondant.

At the bar, there's a nice selection of local craft beers such as Mont Blanc Brasserie, Sapaudia and many more, a good wine list and a selection of cocktails to enjoy until late.

The friendly team ('the gang') are there to welcome you, each with their own personal touches and skill.

Open every day 11:00 to 01:00 for you to stop in whenever the mood (or the food) takes you.

4. 1789 Restaurant

This restaurant offers local French cuisine, with a great wine selection.

Their speciality is meat grilled on the open fire, they also serve a choice of salads, fish dishes, fondue, tartiflette, Savoy hotpot and a vegetarian dish of the day.

Open every day from mid-November to mid-May from 16:00 to midnight. Make sure you reserve in advance to avoid any disappointment. This is a cosy bolt-hole that is perfect for a winter's evening, where certain dishes are cooked over the open fire. 

La Mourra Restaurant, Val d'Isere

5. La Mourra Restaurant

Asian-fusion inspired restaurant in the La Mourra Hotel Village, open to hotel guests and external bookings.

You'll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the Mourra Restaurant, with a mix of formal dining and lounge chairs, to suit your preference. The large dining area can accommodate bigger groups, whilst also feeling intimate and cosy with its warm furnishings. Perfect for a relaxing evening after a day in the mountains.

On the creative Japanese and fusion menu, you'll find a mix of hot and cold starters, sushi, rolls, and mains of primarily seafood and meats. Not to be missed is the great selection on Sakes and Japanese wines on offer at the bar, as well as the signature cocktails.

The dining experience offers a fresh change from the traditional Savoyarde offering in Val d'Isère.

This restaurant serves a variety of dishes from your local Savoyarde specialities to the self-proclaimed "best steak in town". A favourite amongst the Val d'Isère locals making it one of the most popular restaurants in town. The menu includes Savoyard classics such as cheese fondue, as well as a variety of meat dishes, pizzas and pasta. A separate bar and outdoor terrace mean that you can still call in for a few drinks if a full sit-down meal is not what you are looking for. It is a popular apres-ski spot with regular party nights and DJ sets.

Open daily throughout the winter season from 16:30 to 01:30 with Happy Hour on drinks from 16:30 to 19:30. Food served from 18:30 to 23:00.

La Gourmandine Restaurant, Val d'Isere interior

7. La Gourmandine Restaurant

Serves local Savoyard specialities as well as lighter options such as baguettes, salads, pasta dishes and burgers.

They are open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. An easy meeting point for meals and aperitifs whether making a detour from the slopes or during a stroll through resort. In the evenings, they offer a traditional Raclette with unlimited cheese. 

Located at Les Rond Point des Pistes near the bus stop and ski lift station. They have a very pleasant large terrace.

Open every day. Breakfast 08:00 to 12:00, lunch 12:00 to 16:00, apéro 16:00 to 19:00 and dinner 19:00 to 21:00.

Avancher Restaurant, Val d'Isere restaurant

8. Avancher Restaurant

This friendly restaurant is renowned in Val d'Isere for providing fantastic meals and service at great value prices. It is situated within the charming chalet style Hotel Avancher which is just a short 5 minute walk from the centre of resort and only 50 metres from the local free shuttle bus stop UCPA.

Formerly known as "The Raclette", chef Olivier Nuret and his team welcome both hotel guests and visitors.

They use fresh, local products to offer gourmet cuisine including homemade starters, selected meats, a number of different fondues - there are three fondues to choose from: traditional Savoyarde, the Savoyarde with mushrooms or the Swiss cheese option.and of course the iconic “Raclette à l’ancienne" which is delicately scorched under the central oven and served straight onto your plate, as tradition requires.

Avancher restaurant is child-friendly and has a children's menu for those under seven years.

The restaurant is open for dinner every evening except Monday from 19:00. We recommend that you make a reservation where possible as it's a popular place.

La Corniche Restaurant, Val d'Isere interior

A beautifully restored traditional Savoyard building of over 100 years old, nestled in the heart of the oldest district in Val d'Isère.

They serve a range of local French dishes including salads, soups, steak, deer, duck, fondue, raclette, tartiflette and fish dishes. There are a number of vegetarian and pasta dishes to choose from as well.

Open Monday to Saturday, 12:00 to 14:00 and 19:00 to 21:30

In the magical surroundings of the Fornet ski area, situated at the arrival of the cable car, welcome to Le Signal, a colourful, convivial and atmospheric mountain restaurant.

The fine dining restaurant is located on the first floor. Whether it’s a short break around the fireplace or a table overlooking the mountains, you’ll find a warm welcome and your every need will be looked after. The menu offers a choice of fine French cuisine, tempting homemade desserts and a comprehensive choice and variety of wines to suit every palate.

If you prefer something less formal try the self service restaurant and bar; a dynamic, busy restaurant and bar leaving you energised having devoured a selection of fresh salads, soups, savoury quiches, hot dishes and the dish of the day, tempting homemade desserts and sweets.

For those who don't like to waste a second on the slopes, you can grab a quick and tasty bite from the take away. This one-stop shop offers drinks, hot and warming vegetable soup, a Croque Monsieur and much more.

On three levels, terraces open out to magnificent views across the valley, on to the villages and hamlets of Fornet and Val d’Isère as well as to the peaks of the National Park of the Vanoise.
