3. Le Blizzard Hotel

This hotel is in Val d'Isere 1850, the heart of the Espace Killy. It is located at the foot of the ski runs and in the centre of the village, only 2 minutes walk from the mountains.

4. Les Barmes de l'Ours Hotel

Hotel les Barmes de l'Ours is one of Val d'Isere's finest accommodations. Superbly situated for the ski area it is located at the foot of the famous La Face piste.

Modern facilities combine with traditional ambience to create a relaxing and enjoyable experience. They offer 49 double rooms and 27 suites - including 11 family suites -, divided into four floors with four different styles of accommodation: Scandinavian with light wood and whitewashed walls, lodges of the American great white north with dark wood and fur, Alpine chalet with honey tones and rustic furnishings, and contemporary like mountain lofts.

Their family suites include all commodities for children. There is also a well-stocked games room, as well as consoles and table football, and a kid's club during school holidays.

The hotel also has a ski shop where you can hire your material and buy accessories and clothes.

5. Altitude Hotel

A great find in Val d'Isere, this hotel has created the perfect balance between tradition and modernity. From the moment you cross the threshold, you will be cocooned in its contemporary alpine ambience and delightful furnishings.

The hotel's location is fantastic - even a complete beginner could probably slide as far as the lifts without having their first tumble! Furthermore, you have great views over 'La Face', the famous ski run, and it's just a quick schlep across the bottom of the pistes to the town centre.

This hotel offers a wide range of facilities including sauna, hammam and gym, a meeting and seminar room and a relaxing bar area. There are 40 guest bedrooms set out over 3 floors, all of which have been tastefully decorated with natural wood panelling and warm textures and fabrics. Most of the rooms have balconies with day-long sunshine for the south-facing ones and great views over the town for those north-facing.

The hotel itself is very family orientated and the majority of rooms are sufficiently spacious that they can easily accommodate extra beds. In addition, children under 6 stay for free during low season if sharing their parents' room.

For a 3* of this standard, the prices are probably amongst the lowest in the resort for this class of hotel. If you are seeking quality and value for money, then look no further than here. Although get in quick as you will be vying with the many returning clients for a room!

6. Avancher Hotel

This charming traditional hotel has been completely rebuilt during summer 2017. The setting will allow you to relax in an atmosphere combining authenticity and modernity. The hotel is situated in the heart of Val d'Isere just 5 minutes walk from the resort centre and 50 metres from the free local bus stop which will take you directly to the slopes. It is also possible to ski back to hotel so there will be no need to catch a bus at the end of the day.

The hotel has mountain style rooms which are all comfortably furnished and all have en-suite facilities (bathtub with integrated shower), flat screen TV and free Wifi access plus a kettle and fridge so you can enjoy a cup of tea in the mornings. They offer 'comfort' rooms and 'comfort +' rooms. The majority of their comfort rooms have a balcony. They also have family rooms for up to 4 people, Junior Suites and Duplex Suites with their own private lounges, and the hotel has a specially fitted room for those with reduced mobility.

Each morning the hotel provides a fantastic buffet breakfast with eggs, ham, cheese, fruit and plenty of other options such as wonderful home-made jams!

After an active day guests can return to the hotel and enjoy a well earned drink on the sunny south facing terrace or in the hotel's cosy bar. Alternatively why not spend some time in the sauna reviving aching muscles.

Guests also have access to the hotel's lounge where there are comfortable sofas, a selection of board games and books and a piano. Two iPads are also available for guests use from the hotel's reception. There is also a Spa area available to guests from 3pm every day. 7. La Mourra Hotel Village

This hotel complex consists of 4 private chalets, a 5-star hotel, a restaurant and a lounge bar, built as a beautiful mountain hamlet.

Located in an authentic and peaceful setting, La Mourra has a privileged location at the entrance of the old village and just a short walk to the center village with shops and restaurants.

In the hotel, you can choose from two bedroom suites or junior suites, while the chalets can sleep from 11-16 people. 8. Ormelune Hotel

Bathrooms are resolutely modern; expect polished concrete surfaces, fun fittings and bathtubs for all but the small bedrooms, which are equipped with smart showers instead. 9. Le Samovar Chalets, Val d'Isere - La Daille

Le Samovar is a cosy elegant hotel situated in La Daille, very close to the lifts. They offer an attentive, personalised service and access to the slopes could not be easier with both the lifts and the pistes virtually touching the doorstep.

This French run hotel is very popular with foreign visitors as the interior is an attractive mix of traditional features and contemporary alpine furnishings, and the ambience is one of relaxed comfort. The rooms typically have rustic wood walls, faux fur bed covers and modern en-suite bathrooms. All are equipped with flat screen TVs, iPod docks, radio, alarm clock and have WiFi access

There are a range of different categories of rooms available from Classic, Superior and Prestige, as well as a selection of family rooms and suites. The family rooms all have a mezzanine and the suites are duplex so space is not an issue. The hotel is a good choice for group bookings although you need to get in early as there are many returning guests who book well in advance.

As well as hotel rooms, Le Samovar also proposes a number of individual apartments for up to 10 people. These are mainly located in a separate chalet, adjacent to the hotel, but one of them is actually situated within the hotel giving occupants the choice of being entirely independent or benefitting from the hotel facilities as they wish.

After a day on the mountain guests can look forward to unwinding in the new, adult only spa (18+). There is a steam room, sauna, resistance swimming pool as well as two massage rooms.

10. Les Lauzes Hotel

This charming chalet hotel in the centre of the old village, is located conveniently close to all the shops and restaurants, but above all, is only 50m from the slopes and ski lifts.

This hotel has been converted from an original family farm, so before you even cross the threshold you can see that you're staying in an authentic mountain homestead.

There are 23 fully renovated guest bedrooms (double, twin, superior and family rooms) all of which have a bath, toilets, satellite TV, free wifi and most have a balcony with a view onto the old village. A buffet breakfast is included in the nightly rate and served each morning in the dining room.

11. Les 5 Freres Hotel

This beautifully designed 3-star hotel has just 17 bedrooms, each with their own unique style and decoration and each named after a member of the Mattis family who run the hotel.

It's a family friendly hotel with a games room for the children, a video room, and access to the garden to make snowmen. There's also a baby stroller, bottle warmer, changing mats and baby monitors available for you to use, and the hotel can book baby sitters should you require one.

WiFi is free throughout the hotel and each of the rooms is equipped with a flat screen TV and a bathroom with either a shower or bathtub. The rooms are split over 4 floors, with some sleeping 2, 4, or 6 people and there are two lots of 2 rooms that interconnect sleeping two in each room on the second and third floor.

12. Le Val d'Isere Hotel, Val d'Isere

There are Standard and Superior category double/twin guest bedrooms available, as well as a number of family suites comprising two connecting rooms and single occupancy rooms for the independent traveller. All rooms are decorated in a classic alpine style and have ensuite bath or shower facilities, LCD TV, free wifi, tea making facilities and a balcony. Most of the rooms face south or south-west and have a view of the mountains and the Solaise pistes; only the single rooms face north but they still have great views across the village.

15. Cretes Blanches Hotel

17. Le Refuge de Solaise Hotel

This luxury hotel started life as the original upper cable car station for The Solaise cable car, Val d'Isere's first ski lift built between 1939 and 1942.

The Refuge is only accessible via the ski slopes and the new Solaise Gondola lift, so when the ski lifts close you will be cut off from the rest of the world. Once there, and in the silence that follows the closing of the lifts, you can experience 'one-ness' with the mountains as you enjoy 360-degree views and discover unexpected comfort at altitude.

The hotel is made up of 4 apartments and 16 beautifully appointed rooms, as well as 'The Dormitory', a restaurant, a spa, a library with a fireplace, a projection room for the evenings and a seminar area. A range of room types are available:

  • Classic rooms sleep up to 2 people and offer panoramic floor to ceiling windows, a large double bed or 2 single beds, a bathroom with a shower.
  • Superior rooms for 2-3 people include panoramic windows overlooking the village and the valley, a large double bed or two single beds, a sitting area with sofa bed, a bathroom with shower and bathtub and separate toilet.
  • Family rooms sleep up to 5 people and include panoramic windows, a large double bed or two single beds, a small seating area with sofa bed, a bathroom with shower and bath, a second adjoining room which has either a double bed or two single beds, plus an independent toilet.
  • Suites sleeps between 4-6 people and consist of a spacious room with 1 large double bed or 2 single beds with a beautiful sitting area with a sofa bed, a bathroom with shower and bathtub, an open mezzanine with three single beds (or 1 double and 1 single), a shower room and separate toilet.

All bedrooms come with a hairdryer, TV, telephone, WiFi, minibar and safe.

The Dormitory is a genuine dormitory of 14 beds for groups of friends and memorable evenings, offering 14 old wood niches in the spirit of a traditional refuge with a choice of double or single bunks all with access to a shared bathroom, 2 toilets, sound system, WiFi, individual lockers and hairdryers.
