Old Solaise lift station to be transformed into luxury hotel
After several years of planning, the luxury refuge in the old Solaise lift station has an opening date. Winter 2018/19 will see the first guests spend the night at 2550m, France's highest hotel.
The building, which dates back to 1948, will be completely transformed and will incorporate 10 rooms, 6 apartments and presumably to qualify as a refuge, a 14-bed dormitory. The old docking point for the cable cars, a large opening facing down the valley, will be glazed over and provide the suites inside with world class views.
To accompany the accommodation, there will be a 20m pool and spa and 2 restaurants. Given the nature of the hotel, a stay is likely to be in the upper range of most people's budgets but it's sure to be a hotel like no other.
