Local man jumps off dam in Tignes
On Saturday evening a local man lost his life in an apparent suicide in Tignes. The 21 year old from Bourg St Maurice is reported to parked his car in Tignes 1800 before intentionally throwing himself from the 180m high dam at around 20:00.
The drama was witnessed by a lady from Val d'Isere who immediately alerted the authorities and the police were quickly on the scene. Poor visibility hampered the recovery process but the young man's body was eventually located on Sunday morning and taken away by helicopter.
It is reported that the young man was suffering from depression - he is not believed to have left behind a suicide note.
