The Neverest Girls 10,000km Challenge

New year and a new challenge for Chamonix’s trail runners!

The Neverest Girls are hitting the trails again for charity - this time with the goal of clocking up 10,000 kilometres before 2017 is over.

The trail pounding pals have already run the world’s highest marathon at Everest Base Camp and smashed out 200 kilometres over 6 days in the Transrockies Run, raising thousands for their chosen charities and having many adventures along the way.

This time they’re keeping it closer to home by logging their steps on their local Chamonix trails and various European events. Rather than putting all the emphasis on one big race, they’ve set themselves the bold challenge of running 10,000 kilometres between them - that equates to over 100km per person each month for a year. In running 10,00km, the girls aim to raise a total of 10,000€ by the end of the year but the sky's the limit!

The Neverest Girls’ chosen charity is A Chacun Son Everest; a Chamonix-based centre that provides respite and support for women in recovery from cancer. The centre was founded by Dr Christine Janin; herself a formidable mountain woman with a number of alpine achievements to her name. Dr Janin’s concept is to not only provide healthcare but also to heal the soul and restore self-confidence; A Chacun Son Everest offers women a space to meet others in the same situation, to talk with councillors, to meditate, to take part in activities and benefit from the unique mountain environment.

The girls have already signed up for a plethora of running events ranging from alpine ultras to marathons on the other side of the channel, with three members of the team to take part in the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc series; Nikki will be tackling the UTMB, as Samantha has a whirl at the TDS and Meg pits herself against the CCC. You can follow their progress on Facebook and track their training runs on Strava - every kilometre counts!

In the past few years The Neverest Girls have not only raised money through sponsored running events but also fancy dress parties, clothes swaps, gala dinners, summer fetes and various other shenanigans - they’re planning plenty more events for the year ahead, so keep an eye on our Chamonix Events Calendar for further details!

If you would like to support A Chacun Son Everest you can make a much appreciated donation via The Neverest Girls Website; all races and events are self-funded, so every single euro goes directly to the charity.
