Chamonix, Meribel-Courchevel & Val d'Isere to Host the Alpine Skiing World Championships in 2023?
Three French ski resorts nominated as candidates as the bid process begins
The president of the French Ski Federation, Michel Vion announced yesterday that three French ski resorts will be put forward as potential hosts of the 2023 Alpine Skiing World Championships.
In his press statement in Paris, he stated that "We're going to turn to the three brands, the three [ski resorts] that can accommodate such an event - that is to say, Chamonix, Val d'Isere and Courchevel-Méribel. The French selection will be decided in 2016".
Once the resorts have been selected they will be put forward and then the global selection will take place in 2018.
France has already hosted the event four times, in Chamonix in both 1937 and 1962, Grenoble in 1968 and Val d'Isere in 2009. This year it took place in Vail - Beaver Creek.
Let's hope it makes a return to France very soon!
