5 Athletes from Espace Killy to the Olympics

2018 is an Olympic year, a winter Olympic year to be precise. Espace Killy is famous for its sporting prowess, producing numerous top winter sports talents. It’s not for no reason that the area is named after ski racing legend Jean-Claude Killy.
Five top athletes who live and train in Tignes or Val d'Isere will be representing France in five different disciplines in Korea next week. Here's a quick rundown of who they are and what they do. So, if you are in Espace Killy during the Olympics, you'll know what the fuss is about and if you're watching, give these locals some support!
Tiffany Gauthier - Alpine Skiing
Tiffany has been skiing in the World Cup since 2016. Highlights include a 4th place finish at the Bad Kleinkirchheim World Cup in Austria recently and 1st place at the French Downhill Championship in her home resort of Tignes last season.
Johan Clarey - Alpine Skiing
Officially the world’s fastest World Cup Downhill skiier, Johan reached a speed of 161.9 km/h (100.6 mph) on the Lauberhorn course in Wengen in 2013. The most recent highlight for this speed specialist was a 3rd place finish on the Streif in Kitzbuhel last season.
Victor Muffat Jeandet - Alpine Skiing
On the World Cup circuit since 2009, Victor secured his first victory recently in the combined event (Downhill + Slalom) in Wengen. Hopefully, he’ll carry this strong form with him to Korea.
Laura Gauché - Alpine Skiing
Making her World Cup debut in 2014, Laura recently came home from the Lenzerheide World Cup with a top 20 finish.
Clément Noel - Alpine Skiing
With two top 10 finishes in his second season in the World Cup, this 20-year-old is starting his career off strong.
The 2018 Pyeong Chang Winter Olympics run from the 9th February to the 25th February. Athletes from 92 countries will be competing in 102 medal events, in 15 different disciplines. The events will be held across 15 different venues, ice events will largely take place in the coastal city of Gangneung while mountain events will take place further inland in the Pyeong Chang district itself.
