Mountain Masters High Mountain Ski Guides, Val d'Isere - Centre

Fully qualified high mountain guides for off-piste, touring and mountaineering adventures

Featured in:

Mountain Masters were established in 1988 with the aim of offering a tailor made service to their clients. Their ski school includes fully qualified (UIAGM) high mountain guides who will take you on off-piste adventures in the awesome Espace Killy ski domain as well as other Tarentaise resorts.

The Valley is made up of around 10 ski resorts including the Espace Killy. Each resort offers spectacular yet unique scenery and vast amounts of off-piste skiing. These enthusiastic mountain guides are keen to show you just how much there is to offer, from the top of a ski lift or having walked for a few minutes, you can escape the crowds and find untouched snow.

The guides know the Tarentaise Valley intimately and know where to find the best conditions from day to day. As ski, snowboard or telemark specialists, their guides can help you live the dream and experience the delight of skiing off the beaten track in safety and away from the busy ski runs.

Whether you are completely new to off-piste skiing/snowboarding or have plenty of experience, Mountain Master's instructors and high mountain guides will find the best terrain to suit your level.

Their English speaking Mountain Guides offer:

  • Off piste introduction courses
  • Technical tuition for experienced off-piste skiers
  • Off piste skiing with return by helicoptor
  • Ski-Touring introduction courses
  • Ski-Touring expeditions from a full day to several days with over-night stays in mountain huts included.
  • Heli-Sking in Italy (NB. Heli-Skiing is illegal in France and therefore clients must travel to Italy to be dropped off)

Visitor comments

  • "We had a great week.  A high pressure system dominated the region throughout the week. This meant no fresh snow, however what it did mean was glorious warm sunny days followed by cold nights. Therefore the best snow had to be sniffed out which often meant a walk. Time to get the touring kit out. Most of our Tours took anything from 1 to 3 hours. As you would expect there was a real mix in the type/quality of the snow. We experienced lovely powder on north facing pitches to spring snow on the South facing slopes. There was of course some tough conditions to be dealt with also, breakable crust being one. Tony dealt with the diversity of conditions brilliantly. Consequently Tony now has a well-equipped toolbox, and can deal with practically anything underfoot. Well done Mr Morris!" - Customer Feedback
  • "We had a great time and Christian achieved a perfect balance of showing us around the resort and giving us some tips to improve our skiing." - Customer Feedback
  • "I had a great time with Guillaume. He was an excellent friendly guide who took me to some really interesting places and we found good snow. Guillaume was patient with us but also allowed us to ride big lines if we wanted to. I had a great time and I would use mountain masters again. I am also delighted that Guillaume took a video of the troops and is going to send it to me next week. I've never had a guide offer that before." - Customer Feedback

What to bring

If you have your own transceiver, shovel and prove or other avalanche safety devices you should bring these along. Alternatively, a transceiver, shovel and probe will be provided free of charge.
