Whilst some people in the industry have been saying that snowboarding is on the decline, the Chill Factore in Manchester has reported seeing a 350% increase in over 50's taking up snowboarding in the first half of this year.

Parents of snowboarders are apparently giving it a try in ever increasing numbers as it keeps them feeling young.

Snowsport England have launched an initiative to encourage even more people to take up snowboarding and skiing, called GO Ski Go Board. You can get 6 hours of instruction over six weeks at selected dry slopes or indoor centres across the UK.

So if you're on the slopes this winter and someone roosters you with snow on the way past, just check it's not one of your friends' parents first before you start shaking your fist at them!

What are your thoughts? Are you thinking about trying snowboarding for the first time this season? Have you considered turning to the dark side from skiing? Do you think snowboarding will soon be a thing of the past? Let the debate commence.....
