One week on from the avalanche in which a young French skier lost her life, another group of skiers have been caught in a snowslide in Tignes. As was the case in last week's incident, reports suggest that neither of the victims were wearing avalanche transceivers.

Shortly before 13:00 on Wednesday the 12th of December, a group of eight skiers were travelling off piste in the Vallee de la Sache when the avalanche was triggered. Two skiers were caught and buried in the slide, the first of whom was quickly recovered by the ski patrol unharmed. The rescue services searched for half an hour to locate the second skier who was reported to have suffered a heart attack in the avalanche. She was finally resucitated before being evacuated by helicopter to hospital in Grenoble.

We will update this story as further information becomes available.
